Whoever said that beauty is only skin deep must not have known about cleansers, toners and moisturizers — all of which are needed to obtain healthy skin and a beautiful glow. Of course, cleansers clean your skin; toners remove excess oil, which helps to even out your complexion; and moisturizers seal the moisture in your skin, which prevents your face from becoming dry.

However, you must know how to apply the products correctly to achieve the best results and prevent over-clogging your pores.

Things You’ll Need

  • Hair ties
  • Clean face towels
  • Cotton balls
  • Large towel
  • Antibacterial soap

1. Tie your hair back or wrap it up in a towel to prevent it from falling into your face and getting in the way. Wash your hands with antibacterial soap to remove all those nasty germs that may be lingering.

2. Splash a little warm water onto your face to open your pores. Additionally, you can spray a few mists of warm water onto your face with a spray bottle.

3. Add a dollop size of cleanser into the palm of your hand.  Lather the cleanser and massage it onto your face using your fingertips. Pay special attention to the “T-zone,” which consists of your forehead, in between your eyes, your nose, lips, and chin. After approximately 30 seconds, rinse your face with cool water to close up your pores. Wipe off the excess moisture with a clean face towel.

4. Saturate a cotton ball with your favorite face toner. Apply the toner to your entire face and neck, if you like. Be careful around your eyes, nose, and mouth to prevent the product from coming in contact with sensitive areas on your face. Do not reuse the initial cotton ball. Use as many toner-soaked cotton balls as you need, until there is no dirt or residue present on the cotton balls. Allow your face to dry and wash your hands with antibacterial soap.

5. Add a dollop size of moisturizer to the palm of your hand and work it into your skin using your fingertips. Be sure to saturate your entire face, while paying special attention to your cheeks and T-zone. Moisturize your neck as well to prevent dry skin. Allow the moisturizer to dry before you apply makeup.

Tips & Tricks

  1. If you have oily skin, use an oil-free moisturizer.
  2. Use a tinted moisturizer to hide blemishes if you do not wear foundation.
  3. Protect your skin from the sun by using a moisturizer that has sunscreen included.
