Let’s face it, too much hair sprouting on your arms combined with long, wild hair on your legs is a recipe for a furry beauty disaster. You can, however, smooth and tame your unwanted hair without a trip to the salon.

The trick? A quick waxing session will remove hair at the roots and reveal soft, smooth skin. Gorgeous, you are just a few steps away from fuzz-free skin!

Things You’ll Need

  • Cotton balls or tissue
  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Talcum or baby powder
  • Hot or cold wax
  • Wooden spatula
  • Small cloth strips
  • Topical numbing spray or cream

Step 1 -Sanitize your clean skin with a cotton ball or tissue soaked in rubbing alcohol.

Step 2- Powder skin with talcum or baby powder to soak up natural oils and help prevent an inflammatory response to the wax.

Step 3 -Before spreading the hot wax on your skin with a wooden spatula, apply a few drops to your wrist to test the temperature of the wax. If it’s too hot, give it a minute to cool then test again.

Step 4- Smooth the hot wax or a small cold wax strip on a 3-inch to 4-inch section of your arms or legs. Apply the hair-removing product in the direction of the hair growth.

Step 5 – Apply a small cloth over the wax. Press the cloth into the wax for five seconds. Hold the skin taut with your other hand as you rip the cloth and the wax from the skin’s surface. Repeat this process on other hairy areas to get hair-free skin for two weeks.

Tips

  • If your skin is sensitive, use cold wax strips rather than hot wax.
  • Want an ouch-less waxing session for your face or bikini line? Numb skin with a topical spray or cream that contains benzocaine or lidocaine 20 minutes before waxing.
  • To prevent mistakes, practice your waxing session on the back of your leg or forearm before applying to your bikini line, upper lip or eyebrows.
